China's men's table tennis team won a gold medal (獎牌) in the Olympic games in Paris this year. There are three players in the team, including Ma Long, Wang Chuqin and Fan Zhendong.
This was a big success for China because we have now won the men's team title five times in a row (連續) since 2008. Ma Long, who is 35 years old, said that he didn't think he would play in Paris after the Olympics in Tokyo, but he got better in the last three years.
Ma Long joined the Chinese national team in 2003 when he was just 15 years old. But his road to success was not easy. Through hard work, he won his first gold medal at the Rio (里約) Olympics in 2016. C Start of Winter
The traditional Chinese lunar calendar divides (分配) the year into 24 solar terms (二十四節氣). Start of Winter (冬至), the 19th solar term of the year, begins on November 7th this year. The beginning of winter means this year's winter has already arrived. After the beginning of winter, most of the north part will begin to rain and even snow. The first snow often falls on some parts of China at this time.
Here are some things you should know about Start of Winter. It is a very important festival in ancient (古代) society. In the past, there were some important customs (習俗). People would offer sacrifices to ancestors (祭祖) and pray for a better and rich new year. But now, in China, there is also a custom of eating dumplings at the Start of Winter. Because the shape of dumplings look like ears, and it is believed that if you eat it, your ears will not freeze (凍住) in winter.
