It is funny because nearly everything related to the American president Trump is made in China. Students are asked to share their own things with foreign brands made in China. To lead in the topic “made in China”, stimulate active learning and arouse students’ interest in the lesson.Transition T: A boy took a trip to the USA, and he wanted to buy some local products. Can his wish come true Let’s find out some information in today’s passage.While-reading 20mins Activity 1: Predicting Look at the picture and read the title. T: What information can you get from the picture T: What is key word in the title and why To prepare for the reading and arouse students’ interest; to lead in the key word “difficult”.Activity 2: Fast reading Skim the passage and answer questions, like “Who is mentioned ”, “What is the passage mainly about ” To help students get the key information by skimming and get the main idea.Activity 3: Careful reading Task 1: Listen and complete the facts about Kang Jian. Task 2: Read the passage and find out the 2 things he wanted to buy. Task 3: Underline what happened when he bought the 2 products. Task 4: Read again and answer the following questions. From Kang Jian, was there anything else made in China What are Kang Jian’s feelings and wishes. To train students scanning skills and help them get a better understanding of the passage.Post-reading 5mins Activity 1: Interview Now Kang Jian comes back from the US. Suppose one student is Kang Jian the other students are the reporter from ZYTV. Ask and answer questions about Kang Jian’s facts, shopping experience, feelings and wishes. To evaluate how well the students have mastered the content of the passage and to offer students a real situation to put what they’ve learned into practice.Transition Think about the questions: Why do think so many products in America are made in China How do you feel about this Do you agree with Kang Jian’s opinion Further-thinking 9mins Activity 1: Watching a video Students are invited to watch a video about made in China. To help students go beyond the passage with more information about made in China and to inspire students to think deeper.Activity 2: Be a Creator School News: The Science and Technology Festival is coming. Work in a group of 6 and create a high-technology product. Let’s see who’s the best creator!
