作文2 (參考范文)
The miracle did happen. For the last time, I visited the university to check admissions. I looked down the list, and there my name was. Finally, I’d been admitted! However, a brief moment of overjoy was followed by despair — I did not have enough money for the fees. When the time to register came, I went to the university nervously. I didn’t know anyone in that new city. Head in hands, I sat down on the seat outside the office, considering that my dreams of higher education would finish there.
A teacher of the university saw me sitting there sad and asked, “What is wrong ” As soon as he heard the name of my village, he paid my fees. He explained he was also from the same region and knew the difficulties I had faced to reach this stage. From then on, my life changed. My parents were so happy and proud that their village bad boy had made good. There’s a saying, “Learn to build your house with the bricks others have thrown at you.” Never give up your hope.藍天藍教育集團高二年級期中考試英語試卷(提高版)

Bees have been around for over 100 million years. Despite their tiny size, they have an outstanding ability to survive a whole host of changes since they first appeared on our planet. Besides, they can learn and remember things. They can count up to four and recognize human faces. Just one hive of bees will use this amazing flying skill to fly around 90,000 miles each time they collect 1kg of honey. However, it's a sad fact that these wonderful insects are now under serious threat. Around one-third of bee species are in decline (減少) due to habitat loss, wildfire and threat from non-native insects.
It's high time that we should tackle this big issue because the loss of bees would be a disaster. It would have an effect well beyond their role in providing the honey we eat. Bees are part of our planet's balanced ecosystem. If a bee species dies out, the plants and trees that depend on it are affected too, in turn, the creatures who feed or live on those plants are affected, and so is the food chain.
While it may seem that we can't do much as individuals, we can certainly work together with others to raise awareness about them and bring about changes. If you're passionate about bees, spread the love. Share your knowledge—fascinating facts and a few scary statistics, and see if you can encourage your friends and family to become bee-friendly too. Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace and other organizations are working hard to raise awareness of the problems bees are facing. Supporting these groups is one way of helping bees — through fundraising, following them on social media and sharing campaign details.
32. What's the outstanding ability of the bees
A. Adding up numbers. B. Recognizing various smells.
C. Finding the right route. D. Adapting to the environment.
33. What does the underlined word "tackle" probably mean in the second paragraph
A. Settle. B. Raise. C. Stress. D. Avoid.
34. Why does the writer call on people to protect bees
A. Because the loss of bees will change what we eat thoroughly.
B. Because plants and trees will survive without the bee species.
C. Because the food chain will be destroyed totally without bees.
D. Because bees play an important role in balancing the ecosystem.
35. What does the last paragraph mainly about
A. The knowledge about bees. B. A warning against harming bees.
C. A public appeal to save bees. D. The causes of the decline in bees.

第二節(滿分25分)
閱讀下面材料,根據其內容和所給段落開頭語續寫兩段,使之構成一篇完整的短文。
I was the village bad boy because I had no interest in school or studies. I used bad language, hung around with other “bad” boys, skipped school and ran through the fields. When I wasn’t playing, I’d help my parents on our cashew farm. Our cashew farm was like a big forest garden.
Who’d want to go to school anyway No one thought I would do anything worthwhile with my life. And I’d heard many people in our village talking, “Why bother (費心) going to school These kids end up back on the farms anyway. He’ll never achieve anything.”
My mother saw a different future. She was illiterate (不識字的) but knew the value of education to create a better life. When I refused to go to school, she beat me until I dressed and put on my shoes. She’d follow me right up to the door of the classroom and watch me enter.
This bad boy image troubled me. I didn’t believe I was a bad boy, and I didn’t want to be a bad boy. My parents and teachers were disappointed at my average marks. I did not have any money. No one in the village gave me respect.
These realizations forced me to think that my mother was right — education was my only way out. I worked hard to graduate and decided to apply for higher studies in university. But this village bad boy faced too many challenges.
Firstly, I had very limited money, and my parents probably couldn’t afford the fees (學費). Besides that, my grades were poor. There was very little chance I’d enter a university. Still, I took a chance and applied. Days went by, and nothing. I checked to see if my name was there for admission (準許進入). No. I wasn’t admitted. Weeks went by. I continued to check. Still nothing. It looked like I would never lose my village bad boy image unless a miracle (奇跡) happened.
注意:1.續寫詞數應為150個左右;
2.請按如下格式在答題卡的相應位置作答。
The miracle did happen.
