CARTOONS are like a window that helps us see the culture of a country. For example, the popular Japanese Naruto (《火影忍者》) shows us life about ninjas. American cartoons such as Superman opened up the world to superhero culture. In Chinese cartoons, like ink painting (水墨畫) and paper cutting (剪紙).
The first Chinese cartoon was the 10-minute black-and-white Studio Scene (《大鬧畫室》) in 1926. It told the story of how a painter caught a little man who came to life from ink in his studio.
This cartoon opened the gate for Chinese cartoons. But it was The Princess of Iron Fan 《鐵扇公主》(1941) that made more people know Chinese cartoons. It’s a story from Journey to the West. It was a big success and was also popular in Japan and Southeast Asia.

With other cartoons like The Magic Brush《神筆馬良》(1955) and Calabash Brothers (《葫蘆兄弟》) (1986), our cartoons welcomed a colorful age.
But later, cartoons from Japan and the US came to China. Chinese cartoons lost their popularity Not having much creativity was the main reason.
“There’s still hope, though. As long as we keep looking for new ideas, Chinese cartoons will rise (上升),” said Ma Kexuan (1939—2015), creator of The Monkey King: Uproar in Heaven (1961—1964).

It’s the night before a big test. After you’ve spent many hours studying, your eyes have gotten heavy. Will you go on studying for the exam or go to bed instead
Before we talk about this given case, let’s first discuss the following questions. How do we remember what we have learned And what can make learning easier for us
When we come across new knowledge for the first time, our brains (大腦) usually store (存儲) this information in our short-term memory. How can we make it move into our long-term memory more quickly One way is to expose (使接觸) ourselves to this knowledge again and again. In other words, review your lessons! Another way is to connect (聯系) this new knowledge with information we’ve learned before. Either way can help our brains learn and remember the new knowledge better.
Our brains can get tired, though. Take a break after keeping it busy for an hour or so. A good rest can help our brain perform better. For this reason, going to bed early before an exam may be more helpful to us than burning (燃燒) the midnight oil.
Of course, studying for an exam should begin much before the “last night”. You’d better try to spread out the work over several days or even longer. Try to go over what you have learned each day and connect the new information with your background knowledge. You will find it much easier to learn!
48.Which is NOT the right way to help us move the new knowledge into long-term memory
A.Reviewing as often as possible.
B.Going over what we have learned again and again.
C.Starting to study for the exam just before the “last night”.
D.Connecting the new knowledge with information we’ve learned before.
49.According to the passage, if we get tired when studying for the exam, what should we do
A.We should go to bed late. B.We should go on studying.
C.We should stop to have a rest. D.We should keep going and never give up.
50.What does the writer think of staying up late to study for the exams
A.Not so helpful. B.A little dangerous. C.Quite necessary. D.Very useful.
51.What does the writer try to tell us
A.No pain, no gain. B.A good beginning is half done.
C.The early bird catches the worm. D.Don’t burn the candle at both ends.
D

My friend
Hello! I want to introduce my best friend to you. My best friend is Lucy. She is from America. Her birthday and mine are the same day—on July 6th. She is 13 years old.
We are in the same class. At school she likes English best. She can speak it well. I am good at math. She often helps me with English and I often help her with math. Her favourite color is blue. Her pencil case and school bag are both blue. She likes playing basketball. I like playing basketball, but she plays basketball better than me. At first I didn’t like her because of it. Last year I fell off my bike and broke my arm when I rode to school. She went to the hospital to visit and help me with my schoolwork. So we are best friends.
We both think friends should help each other. We often help each other to bring out the best in ourselves.2024重慶人教版八年級英語上學期期中檢測試題
