Step 1 Warm up and lead in The teacher asks students to show their differences from the first day till the ninth grade. Encourage them tell out the differences. Ask Ss what they fear about growing up. Ss tell the ages, heights, problems and so on to classmates in class. 以同學(xué)們自己不同年齡段的變化引出本單元成長話題并要求他們思考這些變化帶來的后果以及激發(fā)學(xué)生思考今天的所學(xué)內(nèi)容“認(rèn)識世界的途徑”。
Step2 Discuss and tick 1. Show a video about growing up and encourage Ss to use their own words to say what they fear about the world and encourage them to explore the world. 2.Help students learn about the world by saying “ I like to learn about the world from/through...”. Ss talk about the ways they learn about the world. They discuss with their desk-mates and find out the reason for travelling. Step 3 Comic strip Look at the picture and ask Ss to guess what is on Eddie’s mind. Watch and answer: What is on Eddie’s mind What does Hobo advise him to do Read after the tape and about some useful phrases. Let students act out the interesting dialogue. Read and fill the blanks according to the dialogue. Step4 Further thinking 1 Eddie thinks growing up is hard. The teacher asks whether Ss think growing up is hard Why Encourage Ss to say more adjectives,such as surprising, interesting, joyful, great and so on. Sum up: Growing up is not hard. Watch a short video about why growing up isn’t so hard. Step5 Presentation The teacher tells Ss not to be afraid of growing up. It can help them learn more the world. Watch a short video about the teacher’s daughter’s ways of learning about the world. Talk about the ways to learn about the world. Ss watch the short video of the ways to learn about the world. Talk about their ways to learn about the world. Grasp some useful expressions to talk about the ways to learn about the world. 通過觀看老師女兒的成長視頻,了解了自己成長的過程,了解世界的方式,將感恩貫穿其中,能夠激發(fā)學(xué)生的情感教育。
Step6 Further thinking Teacher makes students think about surfing on the Internet. Step7 Welcome to the unit 1.Teacher gives Ss a topic to discuss: How do you learn about the world 2. Students can talk about it with the structure: To me, I like to learn about the world from/through/by ________, _________ and _______. To my classmates, ________, _________ and _______ are the most important ways to learn about the world. 3.Listen and fill in the form about Millie’s and Simon’s ways to learn about the world. Ask students their own ways to learn about the world and the reasons with the structure: I like to learn about the world from/ through/ by...... Because ...... Ss discuss in groups and report it out one by one with the structures. Listen to the tape and fill the form. Students read and learn about some new words and phrases. Students must think about the ways to learn about the world and the reasons. 引導(dǎo)學(xué)生用自己的語言發(fā)表觀點和看法。如果學(xué)生語言表達(dá)有困難,教師可以再給出更多的例子,鼓勵學(xué)生從不同的角度思考問題。同時利用中考聽力的表格題,加強(qiáng)學(xué)生的聽力訓(xùn)練,以及口語訓(xùn)練。
Step8 Pair Work The teacher ask students to talk bout each other’s favourite ways to learn about the world. A: How do you learn about the world B: I like to …... A: Why do you like to learn that way B: Because I can…… What about you A: I would like to ……. B: Is that so A: Yes. …... B: That’s true. Students talk about the ways and reasons to learn about the world. Students work in pair to report their ways and reasons. 讓學(xué)生和自己的partner討論了解世界的方式,鍛煉學(xué)生的邏輯思維能力和語言表達(dá)能力,以及小組合作能力。
Step8 Group Work Life is a journey. There are many moments that help students learn about the world. Ask students share what they have learnt with their group members. Tips: 1. The fears of your growing up. 2. The way you used to learn about the world and the reason. 3. Your feeling of your growing up. Students discuss the topic with their group members and then report them in groups. 通過本部分,學(xué)生能夠整合本課時所學(xué)的內(nèi)容,讓自己的語言能夠從詞到詞組,再從詞組到句型,再從句型到整段對話文章,形成篇章意識。讓學(xué)生充分鍛煉其合作能力,語言表達(dá)能力,邏輯思維能力,形成一定的英語核心素養(yǎng)。
Step8 Homework 1. Remember the new words, phrases and sentences; 2. Recite the two dialogues; 3. Finish the exercises; 4. Preview Reading.
