The First Period (Section A la-Pronunciation)
1.Language Ability
(1)Master the pronunciation/i:/,/1/,/e/,/ /.
(2)Learn the spelling of words related to “introduction”.

Step 1 Revision (8 minutes)
1. Play the recording, enjoy the Hello Song,and get students to sing together to master the
following sentences.
How are you today
It is nice to see you.
Would you like to play
2. Greet students and let them practise the sentences:"Hello!/Hi!"“What's your name ”
3.Do P20 la.
Ask students to tick the expressions they know.
4. Teach new words and let them read and create sentences or make up stories.
For example:
We make friends and get to know each other.We are from China, but we learn English now...
Step 2 Pair work (2 minutes)
Greet people and introduce yourselves to Practise what you have learned.
Step 3 Presentation (10 minutes)
1. Look at the picture in lb. Think about what they may talk about.
(Inspire students to voice their opinions and praise them once they raise hands actively.)
2.Do P20 1b.
Play the recording. Students listen and number the pictures in the correct order.
3.Play the recording again. Listen and repeat the conversations, then check the answers.
Play and repeat the conversations slowly if necessary.
4.Pair work.
Do P20 1c.
(1)Divide students into several groups and organize a friendly competition.
(2)Play the recording the third time. Ask students to circle the words they hear while listening.
(3)Have students discuss in groups for correct answers after listening. Tell them to share answers
in class.
(4) Read the conversations in 1b, substituting the names of students in the class. Have students repeat.
(5)Ask students to practise the conversations in 1b with a partner. After students have practised several times,ask several pairs to go to the front of the class to greet each other using their real names.
(Students can make a directory to keep information while practising.)
Step 4 Group work (6 minutes)
1.Let students read the sentences in 1d.
2.Students are divided into some groups, work in groups of six. Get to know more classmates to finish the task and try to remember their names.Then play a game to show how many friends they made.
3.Invite two groups to present.
Step 5 Pronunciation (18 minutes)
1.Listen and repeat.
(1)Show four groups of words, and encourage students to read them loudly and correctly.

Ask students to work out how the letters underlined pronounce.
Learn and try to conclude how to pronounce well.
Read the words again and correct pronunciation.

2.Listen and circle.
Listen and circle the sentences they hear.
Ask students to work in pairs and pay attention to the different forms. One student writes down the first form while the other should show the second form.Then exchange.
Learn to read different forms correctly. Then repeat them.
Invite the one who pronounces best to present in class.
Step 6 Homework (1 minute)
Required:
Make up a dialogue “How do you greet teachers or classmates at school "
Optional:
Make a questionnaire about students what new friends they met in the first week at school.
