Show some pictures of different sports on the PPT and ask students to name them. T: Look at these pictures. What sports can you see S: Football, basketball, tennis... 2. Have a free talk with students about their favorite sports and why. T: What's your favorite sport Why do you like it S: My favorite sport is swimming. Because it's good for my health. Step 2: Presentation 1. Play the recording of the conversation. Students listen and answer the question: What sport are they talking about T: Now, let's listen to the conversation. Please answer the question: What sport are they talking about 2. Check the answer and teach the new words. T: They are talking about football. Now, let's learn some new words. Show the words on the PPT and explain their meanings and pronunciations. Have students repeat after the teacher. 3. Read the conversation together and answer some questions. T: Let's read the conversation together. Then answer these questions: Why wasn't Daming chosen for the team last time What does Tony think of Daming 4. Check the answers and explain the key sentences. T: The first question, who can answer S: Because he was too slow. T: Good. Look at this sentence: "Daming wasn't chosen for the team last time." This is the past passive voice. We use "was/were + past participle" to express the past passive voice. For example, "The book was written by him." Do you understand Step 3: Practice 1. Group work: Divide students into groups of four. Ask them to role play the conversation. T: Now, let's work in groups of four. Role play the conversation. 2.
